David Fincher's 'Panic Room' Is Getting Remade... As a TV Movie

One of the most claustrophobic movies to ever hit the big screen is about to hit the Brazilian small screen. David Fincher's 2002 thriller, Panic Room, is set to be remade in Brazil with a new cast, director, and an updated take for modern audiences.

Brazilian production company Floresta—which is owned by Sony Pictures Television—has announced the development of this remake as its first-ever telefilm (as reported by Variety). The Jodie Foster/Kristen Stewart-led film will find itself reborn under the direction of Gabriela Amaral Almeida, and will star popular Brazilian actress Isis Valverde. It is already in pre-production.

"2024 has been a challenging yet generous year for me, full of possibilities, plans, and projects finally getting off the drawing board," Valverde explained in a quote to Variety. "Ending this year with such great news is incredible. Being chosen to play this role is an honor, as is sharing the set with Gabriela Amaral, a truly unique director and a wonderful team. I hope to deliver a performance full of colors that overflows the screen."
