I can learn things by book, but I really have to focus. For instance, I checked out an Organic Chemistry book for dummies (something like that, lol) and I am learning, but I have to go over paragraphs a lot and it's nothing like hearing a human voice. Anyway, one big bonus to books is if they have "question your knowledge" questions with answers in the back. That really helps.

I have in the past learned things by book but will admit, that if I am given a video for instructions instead of a book, I do find that method easier to follow and understand.

Of course, a lot of books "read like Stereo Instructions". For instance, some material in math books was obviously written for very high IQ people with an advanced vocabulary.
