Do you feel people have an issue with the homeless? I mean, these days I don't see a lot of racism or homophobia, but the 2nd class citizens seem to be homeless and people with criminal records. Does anyone else notice that?

I do feel that there is a stigma around the homeless and they are instantly given the title of being bad or not worth bothering with.

I see a lot of homeless around where I live and most are UK citizens who had a stroke of bad luck and can't get the help they need.

Some of the homeless are trying, though. For instance, several guys at work are homeless. One sleeps in a car and the other is at a shelter.

I agree, most are willing to try and get themselves back on track with their lives but with the lack of support that may be needed to get them back on track, that is where they end up hitting a roadblock.

I have a stigma with it because I have been taken advantage of far too many times. I've loaned money to them and instead of using it to buy food or try to buy clothes, they spend it on alcohol or drugs.

The problem is the number of people who are lazy here in Mississippi. You can't tell who is truly homeless and who is trying to make a quick couple of tax-free dollars by panhandling on the street corner.

This I can understand. As much as we do also have genuine homeless who are trying to better their lives, you do have those who tend to sit and beg just for extra money without being homeless and it is not always easy to tell.

I remember quite some years ago now, we used to see a woman who would sit in the street claiming she was homeless for a while. The next thing we found out she had a home and all the money she had taken she put to a brand new PS4, never saw her again after she had been caught out.

This is exactly it. It has caused me to become a little more careful about donating money to them. I watched a man make the gesture of wanting food to eat and he was given a hot dog from a kind stranger. The man had the audacity to look at it as if he didn't understand why he was handed it.

It's not my role to judge the person in need, but if it's a scam then karma can come back to get them.

And one problem I have is people begging for money (not the homeless), but not willing to work for me, even doing massively easy work. In fact, all I wanted was some simple forum posting.

This is the problem. Panhandling is out of control and not all of them need the money or assistance.

One solution for the homeless is each county in the county in the US buying some land and a building for a shelter. I mean, these large metal buildings are very cheap to buy, so why not?

And it doesn't have to be the government buying the shelters. Private groups like churches could be a big help.

What might be some problems with this? Well, security could be a problem.
